Mac OS X Lion

Tips and Tricks for Apple’s latest version of OS X, 10.7 – Lion.

If you want to create a bootable DVD since the installation is download only, follow these steps (be sure to do this BEFORE you upgrade because the installation file is deleted afterwards!):

  1. Open Finder and navigate to /Applications/Install Mac OS X Lion
  2. Right-click on the package and choose Show Package Contents
  3. Open the Contents folder
  4. Open SharedSupport and find InstallESD.dmg
  5. Right-click on InstallESD.dmg and paste (right-click and choosePaste Item) it to a convenient location (such as the Desktop)
  6. Fire up Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities)
  7. Click Burn, select InstallESD.dmg from your convenient location and click Burn
  8. Find a recordable DVD disc and pop it in the optical drive (yes, you need an optical drive to do this) and click Burn
